Rethinking Europe: A Forum

We take as our starting point the disastrous Oval Office meeting at the end of February between Ukrainian President Voldodymyr Zelensky and President Trump & Vice-President J.D. Vance, in which Trump and Vance put on full display the pro-Russian tilt of American policy in the new administration. Followed by the almost immediate, almost unanimous support for Zelensky shown by European leaders: from France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Norway, Finland, Croatia, Estonia, Lativa, Slovenia, Belgium, Lithuania, Lexemburg, Britian and Ireland.

Clearly, something is going on here.

Clearly, a rethinking of Europe is underway: of the current terms of American partnership with Europe, framed since the end of World War II by the NATO alliance; and on the other side of how Europe is reconceptualizing itself, both in relation to the U.S and in terms of their own self-conception (and their own thinking about their strategic needs).
