The Washburn Art Department is expecting more than 130 high school students and their art teachers, representing about 30 schools from the area and beyond for Washburn's Art Day. Students will attend a wide variety of art workshops, taught by Washburn art faculty, alumni and advanced art education students. A new event this year will be an augmented reality session where all the students will tour the campus and use iPads to access interactive virtual art images superimposed on and around campus buildings - imagine a moving "mural" on Morgan Hall! The session will be led by Professor Wonjae Lee. Our featured guest speaker at the awards ceremony will be Washburn graduate Cecilia Nuno, Class of 2022, who is a professional graphic designer. We will also host the juried High School Art Day Student exhibition from Nov. 1 - Nov. 8 in the art gallery of the Washburn University Art Building.
