The History Department will host the District III History Day competition on February 24th. The department has been the District III host for over thirty years. Over 140 middle and high school history aficionados, their teachers, and their families will be on campus for a competition that showcases student research and creativity centered on the National History Day theme "Turning Points in History." Students compete in individual and group categories in exhibits, web sites, documentaries, performances,and individual historical papers. Among participating schools this year are Royal Valley Middle School, Robinson Middle School, Topeka Collegiate, Washburn Rural Middle School, Holton High, and Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School.
Documentaries and performances are open to the public. Documentaries will screen in Henderson and Performances are in Memorial Union. Documentaries begin at 8:40 and Performances begin at 9:00 am.
