Washburn University Department of Music presents a faculty piano recital by Dr. Lucy Tan. She will be performing works by Chopin, Beethoven, Granados, and Debussy. The concert is free and open to the public.
Lucy Tan, pianist, began her musical journey from a young age, having been featured on the stages of notable venues such as Jordan Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center. She made her live WGBH radio debut at age 11 on "Morning Pro Musica" with Robert Lurtzema, followed by her concerto debut at age 12 with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Tan was also featured on NPR's "From the Top," WBGH's "Classics in the Morning," and HIgh Plains Public Radio. She can also be heard on the recording, Kus Dili: The Language of Birds, a CD that integrates global and classical music. Her performances have taken her across the United States and internationally, she is a laureate of national and international piano competitions, and she has participated in renowned music festivals such as Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Bowdoin International Music Festival. Recently, Dr. Tan performed Liszi's Totentanz with the Washburn Symphony Orchestra and presented at the KMTA 2022 State Conference.
